Fondy Phoenix Academy: WYSA SECL Academy League Play

Academy League

Academy League

The Fond du Lac Youth Soccer Academy is a Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) accredited program designed to bridge the gap between recreational soccer and competitive Select soccer. Our Academy provides a development-focused environment where players receive quality coaching while continuing to foster a love for the game.

Fond du Lac Soccer competes in the WYSA SECL Academy League, giving U9 and U10 players the opportunity to train, compete, and develop alongside other clubs from across the region.

Season Structure

The Academy operates during both the Fall and Spring seasons.

Fall Season

  • Training begins in early August with practices held twice per week.
  • League games are typically played on weekends throughout September and October.
  • Teams generally compete in six league matches and participate in 1–2 tournaments during the season.
  • Fall league schedules are typically released by WYSA in mid-August.
  • An optional Pre-Season Training Camp is offered during the first week of August (additional registration fee applies).

Spring Season

  • The season begins in mid-April and concludes in mid-June.
  • Teams continue training twice per week while competing in approximately six league matches and 1–2 tournaments.

Practice days and times are determined by each team's coach based on field availability and team schedules.

Player Development

Our Academy emphasizes:

  • Professional, age-appropriate coaching
  • Individual technical skill development
  • Ball mastery and confidence in possession
  • Decision-making and game awareness
  • Small-sided play to maximize player involvement
  • A positive, challenging, and fun learning environment

The Academy is ideal for players who are passionate about soccer and are ready to develop their skills in a structured, development-first program before progressing into our Select program.

Fondy Soccer Academy:

Academy Details

Academy Details

The Phoenix Academy trains twice per week, with licensed coaches following a structured curriculum approved by the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association, focused on long-term player development.

All training sessions are held at the Fond du Lac Soccer Complex. Practice days and times are determined at the team level based on coach and player availability, rather than being set by the club. League games are typically scheduled on Saturdays and/or Sundays, with approximately half played at home and half away. SECL opponents include teams from Fond du Lac, Plymouth, Sheboygan, and the greater Milwaukee area.

The fall season begins with training in early August, followed by 6–7 league games in September and October. The spring season starts with training in early March, with games beginning in mid-April and concluding in mid-June. In addition to league play, each team will participate in 1–2 tournaments or friendly events per season.

Age Grouping: The Academy is open to U9 and U10 players, with teams formed based on school year rather than birth year.

Costs: The Academy fee for the full year (fall and spring seasons) is $450. Players are required to purchase a uniform kit, which typically costs approximately $125-$150 and includes jerseys, shorts, and socks. Payment plans are available.

Volunteer Requirement: Academy families are required to volunteer at the Foot of the Lake Classic Tournament, held at the Fond du Lac Soccer Complex during the last weekend of August. Each family is asked to contribute a minimum of two volunteer hours (buyout options available).
