Upcoming Tryouts and Birth Year Registration

As we prepare for upcoming tryouts, we want to share an important note regarding tryout registration and team placement.

With the upcoming team year changes, some players may be placed in tryout groups that look different from their current teams. This means athletes may not be grouped with all of their current teammates during the tryout process.

Please know that our mission is not to break down current teams as they stand. However, as our club continues to grow and push into higher levels of competition, some shifts may need to occur. These adjustments help us place athletes in environments that match their current stage of development and challenge them appropriately.

At this time, we ask that all players register for tryouts based on their current birth year, even if that means they are temporarily placed in a different group from their usual teammates.

During tryouts, some players may be deemed eligible to play “up” based on their ability, maturity, physical readiness, and overall fit. Those decisions will be made by the Director of Coaching and the staff conducting evaluations.

Our goal is simple: to place every athlete in an athletically appropriate environment where they can continue to grow, develop, and be challenged in the right way.

We appreciate your trust, patience, and understanding as we work through this process and make decisions that are in the best interest of our players and the club as a whole.

Fond du Lac Phoenix Select Tryouts

Tryout General Information 2026/2027 Season

This year, US Youth Soccer is moving from Birth Year to Age/School Year to group teams. All players born between 07/31/2016 - 07/31/2008 are welcome to tryout for an Fond du Lac Phoenix U11-U19 Select teams. The dates of the "school year" are 08/01 to 07/31. We understand is a shift. Players should register for their appropriate age group (which will auto populate based on their birth date) but player placements on teams will be based NOT solely on age but also on skill. This means that some players may be asked to "play up" to the next age bracket as a team offer option.

Please read all information for the 2026/2027 Age Group requirements to find your appropriate time to tryout.

Each age group will have at least two tryout sessions they can attend. They do not need to attend both, but attending more than provides coaches a better chance to evaluate players. If you are not able to attend tryouts during this time frame (due to injury or being out of town) still register and note that in your registration.

Here are an overview about Fond du Lac Phoenix Select tryouts and programs offered:

You must attend tryouts to be considered for a Fond du Lac Phoenix select team. If you cannot attend FOR ANY REASON please notify president@fondysoccer.com right away. (But you are still required to register)
Each session is typically 60-90 minutes long.
The color structure of our teams are Red (top tier) and then Black. White is used only when there is a third team in an age group
Tryout evaluations will be done by independent evaluators and Select League Phoenix Coaches.
Cost to register for tryouts is $20 for Select League (non-refundable).

Tryout Day:

Arrive 25-30 minutes before your session to check in at your specified field and warm up after getting checked in.
Wear shin guards, cleats and bring a water bottle - a soccer ball is NOT required at tryouts.
Players will receive a tryout number sticker for the tryout session
Parents may not be on the tryout fields or in the stadium during tryouts.

Notification:

All players will receive notification by email with an offer, alternate status, or decline.

Acceptance:

Once you accept an offer, you must secure your roster spot by registering online. Instructions ill be emailed to players receiving offers.
The 2026-2027 season player pass for their new team begins on August 1, 2026 and runs until July 31, 2027.
A player head photo (for player card) must be submitted upon tryout registration.

First Date of Offers

U11-U14: June 12, 2026 at 12pm (Full Season)
U15-U19 Boys: June 19, 2026 at 12pm (Spring Season Only)
U15-U19 Girls: June 26, 2026 at 12pm (Fall Season Only)

You will have 72 hours upon receipt of an offer to accept.

Players should attend their scheduled tryout based on their birth date within the new School Year/Age Group classification. Players may be asked to also attend additional tryouts of other age groups by the Director of Coaching.
